How Are Cost of Attendance Budgets Determined?
The cost of attendance budgets are approved annually by the Case Western Research University School of Medicine for the upcoming academic year. These cost of attendance budgets for each academic year are based in large part on data from a biannual survey of what our current medical students are actually spending for books and supplies, housing, food, personal expenses and transportation. You can utilize the cost of attendance budget to best anticipate your living expenses during the academic year.
The costs reflect living expenses for the academic year only. Living expenses for non-school periods and for spouses and other dependents are not included because they are treated in the need-analysis formula as an allowance against income rather than a direct cost. In the case of a married student, therefore, the spouse’s living costs are not included in the budget, but the expected family contribution is reduced by the amount appropriate to maintain the spouse and home.

Tuition and fees are subject to change each academic year.
1 This fee is charged to students admitted Fall 2015 and thereafter.
2 This fee is not charged to 4th year CCLCM students (that is, CCLCM students admitted in Fall 2020).
3 This fee may be eligible for waiver. Please visit the Student Medical Plan website for waiver criteria and instructions to waive this fee. Waiver will apply to both fall and spring semesters if done by the fall semester tuition due date. If the waiver is completed after the fall semester tuition due date, students must complete the waiver again for the spring semester.
* All insurance coverage is subject to applicable state form and rate filing approval and, once approved, to the terms of the Master Policy. We have not yet received approval from the state insurance department for the benefits, features and rates described in this document. As part of the approval process, the State may require us to make changes to the benefits, features and/or rates. We will notify you if that happens.
