Union Hospital Home Health Care is prepared to provide compassionate, skilled support when doctors’ orders call for quality, professional care at home. Our experienced staff has the resources that patients want and need, bringing proven medical, therapeutic and support services to patients in their familiar, comfortable surroundings. Patients and their families are typically able to avoid frequent hospital and doctor office visits. Plus, they appreciate the high level of convenient Union Hospital care along with the knowledge that patients' well-being can be properly attended at home.

We serve all of Tuscarawas County as well as patients in surrounding areas of Carroll, Coshocton, Harrison, Holmes, Guernsey and Stark counties.
Patient Services
Home Health Care provides a full array of patient services, including skilled nursing, physical and occupational therapy, and personal care services.
Skilled nursing
Working with your doctor, an experienced Registered Nurse will do an assessment and carry out the doctor’s orders such as:
- Drawing blood.
- Administering injections.
- Inserting catheters.
- Changing complicated dressings.
Our staff will provide assistance and give instructions for:
- IV care.
- Diabetic care.
- Catheter care.
- Taking medications.
- Ostomy and tracheotomy care.
- Wound care.
Physical therapy
Skilled and experienced physical therapists use exercise, transfer training, and home programs to assist patients recovering from:
Occupational therapy
Injury or illness can affect the patient’s ability to care for themselves. Our skilled occupational therapists are available for patients recovering from stroke, surgery, and other illnesses. Their goal is to help the patient resume their daily activities, eat, dress, and groom themselves, and remain independent in their home.
Speech and language therapy
The speech therapist will assess and plan a treatment program for patients who have difficulty speaking or expressing themselves due to a stroke or an accident.
Home Care Aide
Aides assist patients with personal hygiene, run errands, perform light housekeeping, and assist with transfer and ambulation. Aides are available in addition to skilled services of nursing or therapy. All Home Care Aide services are supervised by a Registered Nurse.
Medical social worker
The medical social worker assists patients and caregivers with identifying and addressing psychological or social issues, and helps connect the patient and family with community resources.
Frequently Asked Questions
24-hour availability
You always have peace of mind with Union Hospital Home Health Care. A nurse is available by phone when the office is closed. Normal hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Visits may be made outside of these hours for patients having special needs.
Home Health Care eligibility
Admission to UH Home Health Care is based on your need for skilled care and your doctor’s recommendation. Union Hospital Home Health Care accepts patients without regard to age, sex, creed, handicap, national origin, or ability to pay.
Payment for services
Home Health Care service fees services may be covered by Medicare, Medicaid, your commercial insurance plan, or other sources. Each insurance program has its own standards for payment. Verification of coverage and billing services will be handled for each patient by Union Hospital.
