Overview

The Section of Abdominal Imaging at Cleveland Clinic Florida offers a one-year fellowship program in Abdominal Imaging. This fellowship focuses on establishing clinical expertise by providing comprehensive and specialized training in all areas of abdominal imaging with core rotations in Abdominal MRI, Abdominal CT, Ultrasound and Image-Guided Interventions. We interpret a high volume of studies and serve a sub-specialized group of oncologists, gastroenterologists, colorectal surgeons, hepatobiliary surgeons, transplant surgeons, urologists and gynecologists. The fellow will be exposed to a wide variety of advanced imaging techniques, including multiparametric prostate MRI with 3D segmentation for MR/TRUS fusion biopsy, rectal cancer staging MR, MR and CT enterography, liver cancer staging, CT colonography, MRCP, US elastography, pre- and post- kidney and liver transplant evaluation, and MR defecography.

The fellow will actively participate in multiple multidisciplinary conferences, including colorectal, liver, upper gastrointestinal and genitourinary tumor boards and liver transplant conference. The fellow will also have the opportunity to participate in medical student and gastrointestinal fellow education through didactic conferences.

Elective rotations provide the flexibility for the fellow to deepen their training in abdominal radiology and cross-train in other subspecialties, such as PET/Nuclear Medicine, Cardiothoracic Imaging, MSK Imaging, Neuroradiology and Mammography. Participation in research projects is also encourage.

Paid Time Away: Vacation, Maternity, & Paternity

  • Vacation: 3 weeks (15 working days) provided at the beginning of each academic year
  • Maternity: 6 weeks paid leave for natural childbirth or adoption; 8 weeks for cesarean section. Additional time off unpaid up to a maximum of 12 weeks under the Family Medical Leave Act.
  • Paternity: 2 weeks paid leave. Additional time off unpaid up to a maximum of 12 weeks under the Family Medical Leave Act.

  • Healthcare: Cleveland Clinic Florida covers 50% of annual Healthcare Plans for Clinical Trainees and their families. Effective on the first day of training with no waiting period.

Travel Privileges and Other Education Activities

Senior residents, chief residents, and fellows in ACGME and NON-ACGME programs that meet eligible criteria as outlined in the Graduate Physicians Manual may be approved to attend academic meetings for the purpose of presenting or engaging in leadership roles within national societies will be eligible up to 5 days per academic year with a maximum reimbursement of $1,200 per academic year.

Additional Benefits

  • Book Allowance: A $250 educational allowance per year is available to all clinical residents/fellows. Primary use is for textbooks.
  • On-call Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner: Paid by Cleveland Clinic Florida when on in house night call.
