Overview
Our outpatient infectious disease clinic has scheduled appointments for new referrals and established follow up patients. Each specialty sees patients both in the hospital and in the outpatient setting.
We treat a wide array of infectious diseases, using evidence based-medicine and nationally published guidelines.
Outpatient Consult
We do require a physician referral, except for HIV and HIV Pre Exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) patients. Consults can be ordered through EPIC from Cleveland Clinic providers. Non-Cleveland Clinic providers and patients can call the Appointment Center at 216-444-2273 to initiate the referral process. Prior to making an appointment, we require a physician referral and review of records by one of our Infectious Disease physician staff. Please do not fax any information to our office until contacted by our Infectious Disease staff. Only requests following the above process will be reviewed.
Officer of the Day
This is a service we offer for same day and next day appointment requests and urgent needs. This requires a provider to call 216-636-1873 to obtain name and pager for infectious disease officer of the day, then the provider pages or calls to discuss directly with the officer. This is not directly available to patients. General ID, Bone and Joint, Solid Organ transplant, and cardiac device/endocarditis officers are available five days a week from 8 am to 5 pm.

Virtual Visits
You can now stay connected to your healthcare team through virtual visits, using your smartphone, tablet or computer.
Why go virtual? It's an easy, convenient and secure way to see your provider face-to-face without having to leave home. This saves you travel time, parking fees and time spent in the waiting room — and you can also have a loved one or caregiver join you. If appropriate, you can also get a prescription sent to the pharmacy of your choice.
