Overview
CYCE offers paid internship programs focused on healthcare careers (clinical, nonclinical and advanced technology) and workforce development.
Programs give Northeast Ohio high school students the opportunity to learn and work alongside world-renowned caregivers at Cleveland Clinic’s main campus, regional hospitals, family health centers and administrative campuses.
Each program is designed to provide workforce readiness and career preparedness, increase employability and assist with the transition to college or employment. The programs also provide opportunities to develop and refine skills such as project management; digital literacy; academic writing and presentation; professional communication; and teamwork.
Overall, students will gain exposure to various healthcare fields and careers; manage learning opportunities and work responsibilities; network with Cleveland Clinic caregivers; and find practical, real-world applications for their academic knowledge and pursuit of their selected career goals.
CYCE High School Summer Internship Program
These paid internship programs provides local high school students with engaging, real-world work experiences and professional learning opportunities in a variety of clinical, nonclinical and advanced technology fields.
- Advanced Technology Summer Internship program includes advanced technology pathways such as: artificial intelligence (AI); biomedical engineering and robotics; coding; computing sciences; and information technology/cybersecurity.
- Cleveland Clinic Louis Stokes Summer Internship program includes nonclinical, business-focused areas of healthcare pathways such as: art and design; building and design; finance; healthcare administration; and marketing and communications.
- Science Summer Internship program pathways include clinical-focused areas of healthcare such as: applied medicine, behavioral health, laboratory medicine, nursing, pharmacy, public health, occupational/physical therapy and respiratory care.
Program details
- Selected student participants will be paid $15 per hour for all orientation hours and all hours worked.
- Selected student participants will be required to attend orientation week of June 2, 2025.
- 7-week summer internship, June 9-July 25, 2025, 9 a.m.to 3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, 30 hours per week with a 30-minute non-paid lunch break.
- Graduation ceremony for student participants and family members will be held July 29, 2025.
- Review the program timeline for specific dates.
- This summer internship program requires a full-time commitment. Family vacations and pre-scheduled time away should be scheduled outside of June 2 - July 29, 2025. Full participation in all program events is essential to fully benefit from the internship experience.
Overall application criteria
- Be in 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade.
- Be at least 15 years of age by June 1, 2025.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in a clinical, nonclinical or advanced technology-focused healthcare career.
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale, preferred.
- Be a U.S. citizen, noncitizen national or legal permanent resident.
- Must be able to attend the entire program from June 2 through July 29, 2025.
- Science and Advanced Technology Summer Internship program-specific requirements:
- Live AND attend school in one of the following Northeast Ohio counties: Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Stark or Summit.
- Cleveland Clinic Louis Stokes Summer Internship specific program requirements:
- Live in one of the following Northeast Ohio cities: Bedford, Bedford Heights, Cleveland, Cleveland Heights, East Cleveland, Euclid, Garfield Heights, Maple Heights, Richmond Heights, South Euclid or Warrensville Heights.

CYCE Summer College Internship Programs
Administrative College Summer Internship Program
This paid summer internship is designed for undergraduate students to gain administrative experience working on youth and college education projects, with a focus on our high school summer internship programs.
Interns will serve as liaisons to Cleveland Clinic high school learners and work directly with peer colleagues, program managers and Cleveland Clinic leadership. Interns will be fully immersed in the department as a team member and work closely with their mentors on projects.
- 13-week internship from May 12, 2025, to Aug. 8, 2025.
- Students will have opportunities to participate in Cleveland Clinic professional development courses and workshops.
Application criteria:
- Preferred undergraduate majors: Public health, science/pre-med, education, business administration.
- Must reside in one of these Northeast Ohio counties: Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina or Summit.
Application deadline is January 10, 2025.
Discovery Accelerator/IBM Summer Internship Program
This paid summer internship is designed for undergraduate students to gain research experience working on projects related to the Cleveland Clinic Discovery Accelerator, a partnership between Cleveland Clinic and IBM. The Discovery Accelerator was formed to advance healthcare research through high-performance computing that includes artificial intelligence, hybrid cloud and quantum computing.
Interns work directly with Cleveland Clinic principal investigators in leading-edge laboratories on Cleveland Clinic’s main campus. Students will gain not only research skills, but also skills related to information technology and professionalism, both areas of importance that will help them advance their career goals.
- 12-week internship, May 19, 2025 through August 8, 2025.
- Curriculum determined based on lab mentor and approved project.
- Students will have opportunities to participate in Cleveland Clinic professional development courses and workshops.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be accepted/enrolled in an accredited college or university as an undergraduate student.
- Preferred undergraduate majors — Computer Science, Neuroscience, Data Science, and Biomedical Engineering
- This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Application criteria:
- Must meet residence eligibility requirements by living or attending college in Northeast Ohio.
- Must reside in Northeast Ohio during internship.
- Must be available to participate in all 12 weeks of the internship program.
