The Bariatric and Metabolic Institute at Cleveland Clinic has created a one-year Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship for the purpose of training an APP to become a competent, autonomous provider in the subspecialty of Obesity Medicine. This is one of the first Obesity Medicine Fellowships in the country.
This Fellowship will foster growth in both clinical and research arenas and build an extensive knowledge base on care of patients with obesity(including medical and surgical management) through a multidisciplinary approach. Obesity Medicine APP Fellows will learn how to treat the complex disease of obesity and related comorbidities by behavioral, nutritional, pharmacological and surgical means.
The APP Fellow will spend approximately 70% of their time on direct clinical care of patients. The first quarter of the fellowship will be spent on Obesity Medicine foundational training followed by three-quarters of Obesity Medicine focused training.
