Resident Wellness Program

At Cleveland Clinic Children’s, we want to ensure our residents have activities and resources to help support their personal wellness.

The Pediatric Residency Wellness Committee is comprised of several resident representatives from each class to provide opportunities both in and out of the hospital to promote wellness, stress the importance of a positive work-life balance and organize fun and relaxing activities with colleagues. In the past, these have included:

  • Yoga, art therapy, meditation, holiday celebrations, zumba, etc.
  • Didactics on topics such as mindfulness, resiliency training, managing energy, work-life balance, fatigue management and finances.
  • Small group discussions facilitated by trained professionals outside of the residency program. Residents can share experiences, feelings and coping strategies in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Grief and bereavement discussions facilitated by our palliative care team.

Residents, Staff and Nurses of the Month

Each module, the residents vote for one intern and one senior resident who have been exceptional in their roles during that month and highlight their support and excellent achievements. The interns and residents receive a small token of appreciation for their exceptional work. We also showcase a staff member and nurse with this honor each month as well!

Resident Retreat

Each year, we have a resident-wide retreat and individual class retreats where residents are excused from clinical duties. These retreats offer the residents a chance to relax and get to know each other in a more social setting.

Graduation and Recognition Ceremony

Our annual graduation ceremony includes a wonderful evening of dinner and entertainment. This is an event to celebrate the end of a great year and to say goodbye and good luck to our graduating seniors and pediatrics-neurology residents. As part of this ceremony, there are awards distributed to residents for outstanding achievements in the various subspecialties as well to resident-selected faculty members for their outstanding teaching.
