Interventional Radiology Services Expanded at South Pointe
With our new Interventional Radiology Suite, South Pointe Hospital has expanded the services it offers through the Interventional Radiology Program. Prompt and accurate image-guided services now include:
- Hemodialysis fistula evaluation
- Fistula optimization with angioplasty and stenting
- Fistula declotting and restoration of function
- Temporary (Quinton) venous hemodialysis access placement
- Nephrostomy and genitourinary procedures
- Biliary drainage and stenting
- Angiography and embolization
- Trans Jugular Liver Biopsies
- Trans lumbar Dialysis Catheter Placement
- TIPS and portal venous interventions
- Longer-term venous HD access, including:
- Portacath implantation
- Hickman catheter implantation
- Hohn catheter implantation

Patient Evaluations for Kidney Transplantation Now Available at South Pointe
Physicians from Glickman Urological & Kidney Institute’s No. 1 ranked urology and nephrology programs are now available in the Medical Office Building at South Pointe Hospital to see kidney disease patients interested in transplantation. Potential transplant candidates include patients suffering from chronic kidney disease (CKD) Stage 4 or 5, or patients currently receiving chronic dialysis treatment. Nutrition Therapy Clinic at South Pointe Hospital
Registered dietitians at South Pointe’s Nutrition Clinic in the South Pointe Medical Office Building (formerly the Miner Building), 2nd floor, Suite #207, are available to see patients. Eating a diet that optimizes nutrition can help to prevent diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, cancer gastrointestinal diseases and kidney disease. South Pointe Hospital Achieves Designation as Pathway to Excellence Organization
South Pointe Hospital is pleased to announce that it has been designated as a Pathway to Excellence organization by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. South Pointe is the 2nd hospital in the state of Ohio to achieve this designation. Cleveland Clinic and Ohio University and its Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM) announced today they have signed an affiliation agreement to develop a Northeast Ohio regional extension campus of the medical school to be located on Cleveland Clinic’s South Pointe Hospital campus.
