About Ali Khalifeh, MD

Ali Khalifeh, MD, is a staff surgeon in the Department of Vascular Surgery in The Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He sees patients at main campus and Mentor Hospital.

Specialty Interests: Aortic aneurysm, aortic dissection, aortoiliac occlusive disease, lower extremity arterial disease, carotid artery disease, mesenteric arterial disease, thoracic outlet syndrome, median arcuate ligament, nutcracker syndrome, popliteal entrapment, dialysis access, central and peripheral venous disease

Experience: Physicians in Cleveland Clinic's Department of Vascular Surgery perform more than 8,000 procedures annually at locations throughout Northeast Ohio, using both open and the latest endovascular (minimally invasive) methods.

Dr. Khalifeh is experienced in surgical treatment for all forms of vascular disease with particular interest in open and endovascular treatment for aortic conditions and peripheral arterial disease. He is board certified in general surgery.

Education: Dr. Khalifeh earned his medical degree from University of Balamand School of Medicine and served the first year of his general surgery residency at Saint George Hospital University Medical Center, both in Beirut, Lebanon. He completed his general surgical residency at University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, including a year as a postdoctoral research fellow there. 

Dr. Khalifeh received his specialty training as a vascular surgery fellow at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Rochester, Minn. He joined the Cleveland Clinic medical staff in 2022 on completion of his fellowship.

Research, Publications and Speaking: Dr. Khalifeh has coauthored more than 40 scientific papers since 2012 published in leading surgery journals, including more than two dozen papers related to robotic and laparoscopic surgery case studies and research. He also has coauthored chapters in vascular surgery textbooks and has made numerous presentations at professional meetings, speaking on complex vascular surgery techniques and case reports.

Dr. Khalifeh rated very highly on my personal "bedside manner" scale. He answered all of my questions--and I had a full list of them--and explained things clearly in layman's terms rather than medical jargon. I left well informed and confident in the proposed solution.

Dr. K was very polite, well spoken and informative. He took time to explain what was going on and his plan for management going forward. He is awesome. I will be seeing him annually and I hope I will never require his service beyond an annual checkup.
