The Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) for Depression Shared Medical Appointment (SMA) is a group therapy session. It may be a good fit for you if you’re experiencing symptoms of depression like low mood (constant feelings of sadness or hopelessness and/or no interest in activities you used to enjoy) or have experienced depression in the past. The goal of the program is to prevent depression relapse or reduce symptoms of depression.

What to Expect

What to Expect

  • First, you’ll meet with our psychologist to see if this SMA is the best solution for you.
  • The virtual group therapy sessions meet for two hours each week for nine weeks.
  • Your provider will give you skill-building exercises and mindfulness-based practices to complete before each session.
  • After the 9-week program, you’ll have the option to schedule an individual follow-up appointment with the psychologist .

MBCT combines tools from mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help you become more aware of the patterns that contribute to your low mood. Through this SMA, you’ll learn how to identify these patterns and use effective strategies to manage them in a supportive, group setting.
