Overview
Our Mission:
To accelerate responsible AI adoption and digital innovation within HVTI through education, clinical research and discovery and operational efficiency to improve caregiver workflows, enhance patient care quality and advance cardiovascular outcomes for our patients and communities.
Artificial intelligence is a pivotal force transforming healthcare, presenting unprecedented opportunities for medical innovation and patient care improvement. From optimizing early cardiac risk prediction and improving diagnostic cardiac testing accuracy to streamlining administrative workflows and caregiver efficiency, AI enables healthcare systems to operate more efficiently and deliver higher quality care. The potential to revolutionize how we diagnose, treat and care for patients has never been greater.
To harness this transformative potential responsibly, our approach prioritizes patient involvement and ethical implementation at every stage. Patient engagement plays a vital role in developing AI solutions that enhance the patient experience, improve care access and support stronger connections between communities and care teams. Key considerations include maintaining transparency in AI decision-making processes, protecting patient privacy and working to identify and address potential biases in AI algorithms as part of thoughtful implementation that complements rather than replaces human expertise and compassionate care.
Objectives:
The objectives of the HVTI Center for Cardiovascular Health Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation are to:
- Build AI Education and Literacy: Provide comprehensive educational resources to enhance AI understanding across the Cleveland Clinic community, including HVTI caregivers and patients.
- Promote Ethical and Trustworthy AI: Develop reliable algorithms while actively researching bias, fairness, privacy and societal impact to ensure responsible AI implementation that enhances human expertise and care delivery.
- Drive Innovation Development: Design and implement AI-enabled digital solutions to address critical healthcare challenges across HVTI.
- Optimize Operational Excellence: Integrate automation and intelligent processes to streamline workflows, boost staff productivity and minimize administrative burden for caregivers.
- Transform Patient Outcomes: Advance diagnostics and treatment delivery through precision medicine, personalized care and preventative interventions enabled by early detection capabilities.
- Foster Strategic Partnerships: Cultivate internal and external collaborations with industry leaders, academic institutions and technology innovators to accelerate research translation and knowledge sharing.
- Support Research and Quality Initiatives: Provide AI capabilities for research projects, quality improvement efforts and operational programs throughout HVTI and Cleveland Clinic.
- Measure Impact Through Evidence-Based Metrics: Track meaningful indicators of patient benefit, including diagnostic accuracy, treatment effectiveness, patient satisfaction and technology adoption rates.
Through strategic collaborations with technology partners, the Center for Cardiovascular Health Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation wishes to increase access to quality care, strengthen the doctor-patient relationship, improve patient outcomes and experience, enhance caregiver efficiency and allow healthcare delivery to become more human and patient-centered.
