Clinical Rotation Overview

Clinical Rotation Overview

During the 8-week clinical rotation, you will spend time with the teams that care for cancer patients on either outpatient or inpatient clinical services.

You will be paired with an advisor who will facilitate your stay and direct you to the appropriate resources. The advisor will also serve as a mentor, offering career guidance during your rotation at Cleveland Clinic.

You will be given a list of conferences that will take place during the rotation along with the time necessary to attend these conferences. A member of the House Staff Association will be assigned to help you find your way around campus and Cleveland.

You will meet with the Director of Graduate Medical Education or their delegate to learn more about Cleveland Clinic’s training programs. You will also meet with residency/fellowship program director(s) of the specialty(ies) in which the rotation is taking place, and you will be invited to social events with other scholarship recipients.

This program will be held from June 17—August 12, 2024

About the rotations

Each academic year, Cleveland Clinic receives more applications than it has educational opportunities. Selection is determined by the clinical departments, space available, and/or competitiveness. All rotations are eight weeks long, and each student is limited to four different rotations.

Due to the high volume of requests, rotations during May through October are more competitive. Priority in scheduling is given first to our own medical school students, affiliate students, and other U.S. medical students who are enrolled in an accredited medical school.

  • Application Dates: Currently open - closes May 17, 2024.
  • Acceptance/Denial: After reviewing your application, you will be notified if you’re accepted via email about 2 months before the start of your rotation.
  • Cancellations: While cancellations may be necessary, please do so at least 30 days in advance.
  • Ohio University Students: Due to the affiliation agreement between OU and Cleveland Clinic, applications will open February 15, 2024 for our non-Cleveland students. Your APA should communicate the promotion code to waive the application fee.
