Biography

Mr. Rubel is a Registered Psychotherapist at Cleveland Clinic Canada.  He has over 15 years of clinical experience in addiction, psychotherapy, and mental health services with a specialization in addictive behaviours.  He is skilled at conducting various levels of assessment and utilizes multi-modal, evidence-based treatment interventions.  

Mr. Rubel is passionate about learning and began his education by obtaining an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from York University.  He also holds two Master’s degrees: one with a focus on Environmental Psychology from York University, and one in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto.  His formal clinical training includes two full-year practicums in addiction assessment and treatment at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto, and primary and advanced practicum certifications in Rational-Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) at the Albert Ellis Institute in New York City.   

While maintaining his long-standing private practice in the Greater Toronto Area, Eric continued to gain extensive clinical experience working as Head of the Clinical Services Dept. at the levels of Director and Vice President at Aspiria Corp./CloudMD.  In these leadership roles, he developed organizational wellness programs, led corporate consulting on a wide range of mental health-related concerns including employee substance use and safety-sensitive positions and disability management issues.  He also conducted numerous assessments and provided psychotherapy both in-person and virtually.  Most recently, Eric served as Vice President of Mental Health and Addictions for Members Health Inc. where he developed and led the clinical department’s mental health and addictions operations and services.  Additionally, Eric served as a practicum supervisor for graduate students and as Director of Specialized Services at Alli Therapy. 

Mr. Rubel’s extensive work experience, published research papers, and clinical practice integrates evidence-based psychotherapy with clinical program design to deliver transformative care for his patients. 

When he is not with patients, Mr. Rubel enjoys pursuing an active lifestyle playing various sports and engaging in other healthy activities.  He enjoys spending time with family and friends and is an active volunteer and supporter of Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
