Biography
Sylvia F. Marcos, MD, is an Executive Health Physician at Cleveland Clinic Canada with a specialization in General Internal Medicine. She has extensive experience providing comprehensive care to adults across diverse clinical settings, including inpatient and outpatient medicine, and consulting in the emergency department. Dr. Marcos is committed to patient-centred care and brings a strong focus on preventive health, health equity, and quality of life to her practice.
Dr. Marcos completed her Honours Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto. She earned her Doctor of Medicine at Ross University School of Medicine in the Commonwealth of Dominica and completed her Internal Medicine residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, where she also served as Chief Resident.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Marcos served as Interim Collaborative Program Director for General Internal Medicine at Toronto Metropolitan University’s School of Medicine, where she was instrumental in securing Royal College accreditation for the General Internal Medicine Fellowship Program. She now holds the position of Assistant Clinical Professor at the same institution and serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University, providing bedside teaching and lectures to medical students and residents.
In addition to advancing medical education, Dr. Marcos is deeply committed to community outreach and leadership initiatives. She is a co-founder of Socks 4 Souls Canada; a charity dedicated to improving comfort and mobility for individuals experiencing homelessness through the distribution of socks. During medical school, she co-founded the Salybia Mission Project to support healthcare initiatives in the Commonwealth of Dominica.
When she is not seeing patients or engaged in her passion projects, Dr. Marcos enjoys traveling and theatre. She is fluent in English and Portuguese, with conversational skills in French and Spanish.
