Emma Gangbar is a certified Registered Dietitian supporting the Executive Health Program and coaching patients to achieve their health goals. Ms. Gangbar has a Bachelor of Science in Global Resource Systems from the University of British Columbia. She continued her education in New York City, where she received two scholarships and earned a Master of Science in Nutrition Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Ms. Gangbar completed over 1,000 dietetic internship hours in both clinical and community settings, often serving patients in marginalized communities. Her vast experience includes providing meal support and education for young adults recovering from eating and weight disorders, conducting nutrition assessments and evidence-based interventions in several different hospital inpatient units, and delivering client-centred nutrition counselling for underserved patients.

Ms. Gangbar uses a combination of motivational interviewing and discussion to help her patients reach their goals. She believes that health is made up of more than what you eat. Rather, health is about joyful movement, stress management, sleep quality, community engagement, emotional health, access to an affordable grocery store, and so much more. This is Ms. Gangbar’s approach to nutrition counselling – looking at the whole person when considering a patient’s well-being and subsequent behaviour change goals.

When she’s not seeing patients, Ms. Gangbar enjoys shopping for local fruits and vegetables at the local farmers market, running outside with her friends, and spending quality time with her sisters.
