Modupe Akinwale is a Nurse Practitioner at Cleveland Clinic Canada. She has extensive experience caring for patients in a virtual environment.

Ms. Akinwale first obtained her Diploma in Nursing at the School of Nursing at Lagos University Teaching Hospital in Nigeria. There, she spent three years providing assessments and patient care and informing new care processes. When Ms. Akinwale moved to the east coast of Canada, she continued her education at St. Francis Xavier University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. As a registered nurse in Halifax, for twelve years she provided leadership to health services staff and provided research and healthcare education to both patients and their families. After obtaining her Master of Nursing, Ms. Akinwale worked with patients in addiction care and treatment, providing assessments and education in prevention strategies.

The next step in Ms. Akinwale’s nursing career moved to virtual care in PEI and Newfoundland and Labrador providing emergency room triage and mental health assessments to provide individualized treatment plans. With a dedication to supporting her patients after care, she regularly monitored and evaluated patients who had left treatment to ensure they were supported in the community by other medical professionals. With licensure in three provinces, she can deliver care to a wide range of patients and address urgent/emerging issues through a care model that encourages collaboration, consultation, and knowledge exchange.

When she is not treating patients, Ms. Akinwale spends her time with her family, traveling, and exploring the outdoors.
