Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 3/28/2024, Dr. Zimmerman has reported the financial relationships with the companies listed below. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Click here to view a listing of instances where Cleveland Clinic has identified a Public Health Service (PHS)-Reportable Financial Conflict of Interest and has put measures in place to ensure that, to the extent possible, the design, conduct and reporting of the research is free from bias.

He is a very good doctor!

Reviewed on Sep 24, 2024

Dr Zimmerman is a very caring and easy to talk to physician.

Reviewed on Sep 17, 2024

Great doctor and experience.

Reviewed on Sep 3, 2024

Dr. Zimmerman accepts our making small talk to begin the session. This puts us at ease. He answered the questions we asked and explained what he thought of my test results. He also discussed adjusting medications and why.

Reviewed on Aug 28, 2024

He is the best provider

Reviewed on Aug 9, 2024

It's too hard to schedule appts as clearly the providers are taking on too many patients. It takes months to get in to see a provider. Although Dr Zimmerman is an amazing doctor it is a bit discouraging to have to work around the clinics schedule.

Reviewed on Aug 9, 2024

Dr Zimmerman has always taken into consideration my concerns and how I would like to also handle my diabetes. He's the best provider I've ever had and the most knowledgeable.

Reviewed on Aug 9, 2024

Dr. Zimmerman was NOT interested in me or my issues.

Reviewed on Aug 9, 2024

It's hard to explain, I like the zoom appointments Because they're more convenient than an in person appointment But this particular doctor was not good on a zoom apt.

Reviewed on Aug 2, 2024

I missed my appt last month due to traffic. The Dr conscientiously scheduled this appt to keep me on track with my meds.

Reviewed on Aug 2, 2024

Generally speaking, I prefer to see the provider in the office, however, in this case the video visit was equivalent

Dr. ZIMMERMAN VERY RESPECTFUL AND KIND, ALWAYS INCLUDES ME IN DECISION MAKING.

Reviewed on Jul 5, 2024

Dr Zimmerman spent 45 mins of the appt reviewing medical records and not speaking to me, he didn't even know I was a terminal cancer patient before he started recommending long tests, my daughter had to advocate for my health care priorities because the doctor didn't understand who I was as a patient. He took up my time and my daughters time and didn't even care he did and was late to the appt and just a waste, how didn't he understand I was terminal or read anything in my chart before he saw me.

Reviewed on Jul 2, 2024

It is always a pleasure to discuss my health, concerns and continued care with Dr. Zimmerman

Reviewed on Jul 1, 2024

Dr Zimmerman is not only extremely knowledgeable but also very patient and caring. He always listens and remembers details about my condition and discusses everything with me regarding my care. Dr Zimmerman makes you feel respected and provides top level specialist care. I am very grateful to be his patient for many years now.

Reviewed on May 24, 2024

Dr Zimmerman is very thorough

Reviewed on May 24, 2024

Every single time Dr. Zimmerman is late, and not just a little bit late. This time it was 45 minutes. I'm not sure why health care providers expect patients to not only be on time, but early, then they don't reciprocate the same. Obviously things happen, but if roles were reversed the patient would be forced to forfeit and reschedule.

Reviewed on May 17, 2024

Actually Dr. Robert S. Zimmerman on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score, is rated a 7. He is a great doctor in all respects!

Reviewed on Nov 29, 2023

This is my first visit to Dr. Zimmerman. He has enormous knowledge, was thorough, clear, and firm about his plan of my treatment. I took his instructions and look forward to seeing him in three months.

Reviewed on Nov 22, 2023

He's obviously a qualified physician but not the most personable person on the planet. Every time I come in, he doesn't seem to know who I am whereas my other physicians at CC have taken good notes and know exactly who I am and what issues we discussed the last time before they even come into the room.

Reviewed on Nov 7, 2023

I have been Dr. Zimmerman's patient for about 15 years. He is exceptionally competent in his areas of expertise. His "bedside" manners are outstanding! In some ways, I'm still alive and healthy, thanks to him!
