The doctor was very attentive to my story they had on collision and the extent of my injuries to my left ankle and gave me some options. I.e. Removing the hardware that could or could not help . I asked about a nerve block in this area and he did refer me to a pain specialist to see if perhaps the nerve block would help with the excruciating pain that I have most of the days

Dr. Berkowitz gave thorough and clear instructions and advice on a complicated ankle issue. He did not push surgery and gave reasons why that option would not be in my best interests. He took time to listen and answer my many questions. His assistant was very prompt with responding to MyChart messaging. I would highly recommend Dr. Berkowitz for your complex orthopedic concerns.

Reviewed on May 13, 2024

I was very disappointed with this doctor! My podiatrist, and whomever read my MRI both noted that I have no cartilage in my ankle. This guy looked at the MRI for half a second, which in his opinion was terrible, and why would I have an open MRI, and decided all of my cartilage was fine. He told me that there was no reason for my ankle hurt where it does and just sort of blew that off. He then prescribed me the exact medication I had just told him does not work for me. This was a total waste of time and money!

Dr. Berkowitz was very knowledgeable and great in caring for the foot problem. His advice saved the toe and checking on it one week later was appreciated so much. We did what he advised and everything is working out well. His office staffers would like to see patient back in two weeks to keep an eye on the healing process. Was extra pleased with his advice and recommendation.

He gave me great suggestions and strategies, encouraging me to continue the successful therapy and said I could come back anytime for a followup whenever I needed to see him.

Dr was very inpersonal. Never touched me throughout the visit. Not even a handshake when entering. In and out in 15 mins. I expected more Of a discussion concerning my AVN re: future, any treatment, research etc. I drive from Detroit and expected a little more. It was a wasted trip. I thought Ortho dealt with AVN and Cleveland Clinic was listed as a place for AVN treatment.

Dr. Berkowitz is an amazing surgeon. He listened to my concerns, answered my questions thoroughly & gave detailed explanation of how complicated a surgery on my foot would be & exactly what a long recovery would look like. He also gave me a referral for a new neurological procedure to explore as a possible alternative to him performing the surgery. I read a few reviews regarding Dr Berkowitz not having a good bedside manner. After Dr B gave me twice the amount of our scheduled time I understand the commitments. He is a professional, highly specialized, highly successful & experienced surgeon. I do not need him to hold my hand & make me feel good! I need him to be what he is. A Great Surgeon!

Reviewed on Jan 18, 2024

Dr. Berkowitz has done two of my surgeries and I'll say this, he not only is a craftsman and takes pride in his work, but he's personally changed over the years. His bed side manners have significantly improved. I only say this because everyone at CCF knows him for his abilities, but the reviews focus on his attitude. He's the best surgeon and truly does care about you.

Reviewed on Jan 10, 2024

Dr. Berkowitz was professional, calm, thorough in his explanations, diagnosis and care. Answered all my questions and took time to discuss my concerns for the future use of my foot due to my hiking and biking activities. He was great! I'd definitely recommend him. He also didn't criticize the previous foot doctor, just listened.

Dr. Berkowitz brought in Dr. Shook for another doctor to have an opinion on my case. Dr. Shook ended up taking my case and performing surgery on my toe. Both doctors teamed up to help provide an option for my best outcome and gave their opinions on what surgery would provide in terms of recovery. The professionalism and teamwork that both doctors showed regarding my case made me feel that my care was in the best hands possible.

Reviewed on Nov 30, 2023

Dr. Berkowitz has been great from my surgery through my recovery. He explains everything, listens to my questions and provides me with all the answers.

Reviewed on Nov 29, 2023

This is specifically about Dr. Berkowitz.I understand that the skill In the surgery is the most important thing to consider. However its the dismissiveness that he showed me. It bordered on disrespectful. And I guess because Adam the nurse modeled such a fantastic bedside manner it *kinda* makes up for it. And I'm suspect of the power or influence of a survey. But maybe just maybe you could share with Dr. Berkowitz that he's his own worse enemy. There's no reason ever to be dismissive of a patient. A patient IS the reason you do what you do. Patient healthcare includes emotional well being. Just be nicer.

Reviewed on Nov 13, 2023

I most definitely would recommend and have recommended Dr Berkowitz.
