Reviewed on Dec 14, 2023

This was the worst medical experience I have ever had in my life. I have been dealing with issues for over 2 years and am, understandably, frustrated. My pain has been more severe in the past few months, and I was recommended to see a pain specialist by Dr Howell (pulmonology). The only question the doctor asked me was if my pain was better with rest. He felt my back and then said this was fibromyalgia. When I told him that my rheumatologist said he thought that something else was going on besides fibromyalgia, your doctor said, "no, it's fibromyalgia." He never asked about other symptoms and was uninterested when I tried to tell him about the thickening of my joints. He wasn't about to listen to any other symptoms. At this point, out of frustration, I was in tears, to which he said, "being upset doesn't help anything. If it did, I would write you a prescription!" He also told me that the only thing he could do was injections or procedures..there was nothing he could do for me. He recommended that I go to a pain recovery clinic..telling me that, when they call, that I, "need to take it seriously." There was no professionalism, care, concern, compassion, or anything else! He had his mind made up from the start and was unwilling to listen to me. I am at the point where I can't function on a normal daily basis..I can't even walk up the stairs in my home, but "being upset doesn't help anything!" I'm not drug seeking.I have a DEA license so I certainly wouldn't travel over 2 hours to different doctors on the chance that I might get some drugs prescribed. I was just hoping for some reliefeven a suggestion of what might help. Instead, all I got was berated for the 5 minutes he was in the room with me.
