Biographical Sketch
William D. Carey, MD, is Director of the Hepatology (Liver) Center in the Department of Gastroenterology at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Carey is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, and specializes in liver disease, including medical management of liver transplantation and endoscopy.
After graduating from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Dr. Carey completed his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in nephrology at Presbyterian Hospital in San Francisco. He also completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
He is Past-President of the American College of Gastroenterology, and is active in many other professional groups, including the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Physicians, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Society for Transplant Physicians.
