Ahmed Elghawy, DO CAQSM is a Staff Physician in the Orthopaedic and Rheumatologic Institute at Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Elghawy is one of the few physicians in the nation who is triple-board certified in rheumatology, sports medicine, and internal medicine. Joining Cleveland Clinic’s Department of Rheumatic and Immunologic Diseases in 2021, he practices in both General Rheumatology and in the Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Center. He has a special interest in practicing musculoskeletal medicine, treating systemic rheumatic disease, rehabilitating athletes with sports-related injuries, and performing musculoskeletal ultrasound-guided procedures.
Dr. Elghawy completed his undergraduate education at Ursinus College, where he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology. He earned his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSUCOM) in Fort Lauderdale, FL and completed his internal medicine residency training at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, FL. He went on to complete his post-graduate fellowship training in rheumatology at SUNY Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, NY, followed by a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical center in Cleveland, OH.

I like Dr. Elghawy's method of discussing his recommendations, listening to my concerns and then discussing why he feels the treatment he suggested is a good approach. He answers all my questions and makes me feel as if my treatment is a joint decision, and I really appreciate it.

Video visits work at this point since I am an established patient. In addition my Physical Therapy is also through the clinic so communication between doctor and therapist that I seeing in person on a regular basis is easy.

I really appreciate the Cleveland Clinic and the doctors there. Everybody takes a lot of time asks a lot of questions and I feel like they really want to know how they can make me better. I am a tricky case kind of a fringe situation and I feel like they are trying so hard to figure me out. I started trying to get diagnosis in my local town which is 2 hours away. Many of the doctors here only want to look for Simple Solutions and don't want to spend time going any deeper than the surface issues. It's very difficult to get this kind of service locally so I am so happy to have a place to get to for my Healthcare

This dr has been the best dr I've ever come across. He cares in a way I've never experienced in the medical profession. He takes me very seriously and never down plays my concerns. I can truly tell he wants the best for my medical care and wants me to be as comfortable and healthy as possible.
