David Rubin, MD, FACC, FASE, is a general cardiologist in the Section of Regional Cardiovascular Medicine in the Tomsich Family Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He sees patients at Marymount Hospital ,Independence Family Health Center and Twinsburg Family Health and Surgery Center.

Dr. Rubin has more than 20 years’ experience in cardiovascular medicine and diagnostic cardiac imaging. He performs hundreds of diagnostic imaging studies each year, including more than 60 transesophageal echocardiograms, 200 stress echocardiograms and 1,700 echocardiograms.
He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and comprehensive echocardiography, and he is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography.

Education: A Florida native, Dr. Rubin earned his Doctor of Medicine at University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, Fla. He completed his internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Hospital and a clinical fellowship in medicine at Harvard Medical School in Boston. He came to Cleveland Clinic as a cardiology fellow in 1994 and continued his subspecialty training at Cleveland Clinic as fellow in cardiovascular imaging.
Prior to joining the Cleveland Clinic medical staff in 2020, Dr. Rubin was Chief of the Section of Cardiology and Medical Director of Echocardiography and the Heart Failure Clinic at University Hospitals Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, Ohio.
Research, Publications and Speaking: Dr. Rubin has participated in more than a dozen studies related to cardiac imaging and its impact on patient treatment and coauthored papers on these studies published in leading medical journals. He has presented abstracts on cardiac imaging research at national medical meetings and coauthored chapters in two cardiology textbooks.

Never room in Dr. Rubin's schedule for 6 month appointments in the Twinsburg office. This has been ongoing. I am not blaming the doctor for this. I don't believe he has control of his schedule.

I would not recommend him because you cannot get followup appointments with him on a timely basis, which has been my experience. Otherwise he is an excellent physician and on that basis I would recommend him. It is just the system that is failing, not the doctor.

Called by the Clinic to say that Dr Pace was retired and they would have to schedule an apt months ahead. I said that was not good So they schedule with Dr Rubin. Had to drive awhile but it was OK. I was glad he would take my apt.

Dr. Rubin was very knowledgeable and thorough. He had read my records before coming in to see me. I liked that. Dr. Rubin discussed my ekg then my previous test. Then discussed my future plans, which was a stress test. I figured that was next, as I was also here for check up and clearance for surgery! What a great Dr. He is!!

Exceptionally Good Doctors VisitDoctor Ruben is an amazing person, very personal and relatable. He took extra time to evaluate the progress of my symptoms. Dr. Rubin was professional, compassionate and understanding. After recently losing my father to a cardiac event, I wanted to get a benchmark for my own cardiac health. He listened to my concerns & questions, eased them with facts and test results, was encouraging and supportive. He provided me with practical advice and recommendations for my future heart health, suggestions which fit my lifestyle and are achievable. As he said, he will be my cardiologist of record, but hopes he won't have to see me. After consulting with Dr. Rubin, I feel confident it will not be necessary to return, however, I would highly recommend him.
