»Researching non-surgical treatments for carpal tunnel syndrome

Cleveland Clinic's Zong-Ming Li, PhD, (Biomedical Engineering) along with Peter Evans, MD, PhD, (Orthopaedic Surgery) received a 2-year grant from the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases. The study seeks to investigate whether carpal tunnel syndrome can be efectively treated by non-surgical, biomechanical manipulation.

Relief from chronic pain is a major priority for the 1,000,000 US residents that suffer from spinal cord injury (SCI). Ching-Yi Lin, at Cleveland Clinic's Lerner Research Institute, is the lead and corresponding author of a new study published in the Journal of Neurotrauma, showing that a single injection of fibronectin, leads to an unprecedented inhibition of chronic SCI pain.
