4th Annual Advanced Management Issues in HIV Medicine

The 4th Annual Advanced Management Issues in HIV Medicine Course will be held April 28-29, 2011 at the InterContinental Hotel & Bank of America Conference Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Alan Taege, Director of HIV Care for the Infectious Disease Department at the Cleveland Clinic, is Co-Director for this annual event. The course will focus on management of patients infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). It is designed to heighten awareness of all health care professionals treating patients with HIV through a state-of-the-art review of current research results and new insights on HIV care. Congratulations to Dr. Ume Abbas of the Infectious Disease Department whose article entitled "ART/PrEP combo lowered HIV incidence, increased drug resistance" was printed in the Infectious Disease News in March, 2011.

Tropical Medicine Rotation

Our 2nd year fellows have the opportunity to participate in a tropical medicine rotation elective which is funded by the Department of Infectious Disease at Cleveland Clinic. The rotations have been in place since 2006, allowing fellows to travel to Mexico, the Philippines, and Israel.

First Place Recognition

Congratulations to Dr. Maricar Malinis, Transplant Fellow in the Infectious Disease Department. Dr. Malinis won first place at the Infectious Diseases Society of Ohio Spring meeting for her Fellow's Case Presentation presented April 9, 2011. We are proud of Dr. Malinis' accomplishment.
