K.V. Gopalakrishna, MD, FIDSA, FACP

Dr. Gopalakrishna (Gopal) is a diplomate in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. Dr. Gopal is a member of many prestigious medical societies and is active in hospital committees. Also, he is very interested in research and has presented papers with residents at many major conferences across the country. He has published many scholarly papers and lectured nationally and internationally on the subject of infectious diseases. He is the 1999 recipient of the Master Teacher award from ACP-ASIM Ohio Chapter. Dr. Gopal is an avid baseball fan, and serves as a team physician for the Cleveland Indians.

Peter Bambakidis, MD

Dr. Bambakidis graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, earning a M.D. degree. He completed four years of residency training in Neurology at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine and then completed an Electroencephalography Fellowship at Mayo. Dr. Bambakidis is very active in the residency program, both in clinical teaching and lecturing on various aspects of Neurology. He is board certified in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology. Before studying medicine at Case Western Reserve University, Dr. Bambakidis earned his bachelor's and master's degree in music at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He is an accomplished violinist and has performed in the United States and abroad. His interests include Olympic weightlifting, and near and middle eastern classical music as well.

Rakesh Bhalla, MD, MBA, FACP

Dr. Bhalla completed medical school in India and obtained his MBBS. degree from the prestigious University of Delhi. He moved to the United Kingdom where he did his residency in Internal Medicine. He also obtained MRCP Part I in the U.K. and Ireland. His last duties in the U.K. included working as a Registrar in Internal Medicine. Dr. Bhalla came to the United States and completed his residency at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. He is board certified in Internal Medicine. He joined our program as Chief Resident in 1996 and accepted a faculty position in July 1997. He serves as chairman of the CME committee and is an active member in several hospital committees. Dr. Bhalla completed an MBA in Health Care Administration at Cleveland State University in May 2003. His future interests are in Service Excellence, Quality in Health Care, Information Systems in Health Care, and Innovation in Teaching and Health Care Administration.

Ahmad Kilani, MD, FACP

Dr. Kilani is a graduate of Damascus University in Syria. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Fairview Hospital. He served as Chief Resident, 1999-2001. Currently, he is working as Associate Program Director and Firm Director of one of the floor teams. He is also serving as Director of Ambulatory Care. In addition, he serves as the physician advisor of the Care Management Department, and the physician in charge of the hospital's medical house doctors. He is a very active member in several hospital committees, in particular, what is related to graduate medical education and patient experience. He is board certified in Internal Medicine.
