Home Infusion Pharmacy

Home infusion can be a safe and effective alternative to inpatient care. If you’re like most people, you probably prefer to recover from or manage your condition in the comfort and privacy of your own home. Medical research reports that when a skilled team of specialists provides home care, patients experience better outcomes.

The goal of home infusion is to provide quality care in a safe environment so that patients can maintain their independent lifestyles. Prior to starting home infusion therapy, a thorough assessment is performed to ensure that the patient is an appropriate candidate for infusion services and to determine if other home care services are needed.

About Home Infusion

Cleveland Clinic’s home infusion pharmacy is a licensed pharmacy that provides medications, nutritional support, infusion pumps, supplies and comprehensive infusion therapy management to patients in their own homes. Depending on the patient’s needs and physician orders, therapies are administered into the bloodstream (intravenously), beneath the skin (subcutaneously) or around the spinal cord (as an epidural). Therapies commonly provided include antibiotics, chemotherapy, immune globulin, pain management, and enteral and parenteral nutrition. The Pharmacy serves approximately 1,000 patients a month.
