Heart Disease After Breast Cancer: Know Your Risk

Patients receiving radiation therapy for Hodgkin lymphoma and cancers of the lung, esophagus, or breast often are at the highest risk for heart complications following radiation. Heart problems after exposure to radiation, also known as cardiotoxicity, become a concern when a large volume of heart muscle is exposed to a high dose of radiation. Cardiologists and oncologists work together to determine a patient’s risk for cardiotoxicity by doing tests and imaging before beginning radiation. Join us to speak with Dr. Thomas Samuel and Dr. Diego Sadler to learn more about the risks of heart disease after cancer.
