Cleveland Clinic Florida’s Pelvic Floor Center has been designated a Center of Excellence (COE):Continence Care in Women by the National Association for Continence. Cleveland Clinic Florida is the first medical center on the east coast and the third in the nation to receive this designation.
The nationally ranked Pelvic Floor Center embodies the model of coordinated and specialized care by integrating the departments of Urology, Gynecology and Colorectal Surgery into the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction. The Pelvic Floor Center is at the forefront of technological advances in the field, enabling physicians to provide minimally invasive, yet safe and effective treatments for common pelvic floor problems that previously required more invasive procedures.
“We are extremely proud and honored to receive this designation,” said Bernie Fernandez, MD, Chief Executive Officer of Cleveland Clinic Florida. “This accomplishment is due to the collaborative efforts of Dr. Vivian Aguilar, Dr. G. Willy Davila and Dr. Dana Sands who work collaboratively to provide expert, compassionate care to patients with pelvic floor dysfunction.”
According to the National Center for Continence, as many as one in four women over the age of 18 experience urinary incontinence. As a Center of Excellence, Cleveland Clinic Florida offers solutions to patients who have bladder control and bowel control problems and related pelvic floor dysfunction.
