Video: Cleveland Clinic Advantages
Cleveland Clinic is rooted in its long-standing and strong commitment to education. This core value continues to be demonstrated today through the dedication and support the leadership team shows to the Administrative Fellows. The Administrative Fellowship Program, based at Main Campus, has sustained an esteemed reputation throughout the organization since its inception in 1977.
Cleveland Clinic is an integrated healthcare organization with an innovative institute structure and advanced physician-employment model. Administrative Fellows have the opportunity to experience and improve a model of efficient high quality healthcare that the remainder of the country strives for. Structured as a group practice, the staff physicians at the main campus are salaried employees and are not in private practice. While the employed staff is the foundation of Cleveland Clinic’s physician model the community hospitals also feature private practitioners that are affiliated with the organization through particular quality and operational standards. Further, the fellows will operate in clinical institutes, centered around organ systems, which are the first of its kind. These institutes foster an environment that: maximizes coordination, improves patient access to multiple disciplines, allows experts to act as a dynamic team, and results in optimal treatment for patients.
Why a Cleveland Clinic Administrative Fellowship?
The Fellowship Program is sponsored by Executive Administration and jointly directed by the Department of Operations and Clinical Institute leadership. Cleveland Clinic offers outstanding projects for fellows in a variety of operational, clinical, strategic growth and international arenas. Under the mentorship and guidance of the program directors and other executive and senior leaders, the fellows gain excellent career experiences in leading-edge areas of management.
Develop and Enhance Your Skills
The Administrative Fellowship Program allows early careerists to begin building a solid platform of leadership and project management skills. A successful healthcare administrator must not only possess the knowledge of utilizing innovative management tools, but must also develop interpersonal and behavioral skills. These skills, such as the ability to manage teams and to endure complexity and ambiguity, are developed extensively throughout the program, as Fellows are encouraged to test the theories and principles learned in the classroom through dynamic team-oriented projects.
Exposure to High Profile Projects
Project locations range from main campus, family health centers and community hospitals, to international locations. The fellows routinely participate in high-level discussions and committees regarding the myriad of strategic and operational issues affecting the system. Cleveland Clinic leaders are committed to the growth and development of healthcare's future leaders and are consistently willing to engage Administrative Fellows in even the most confidential meetings.
Other distinguishing characteristics of the Administrative Fellowship include experience in a large integrated health system, the physician-administrator partnership (an invaluable dynamic), and the opportunity for the Fellows to complete a competency model that identifies key characteristics for success.
