Nancy J. Kaser, MSN, BS, RN, ACNS-BC, NEA-BC, is a clinical nurse specialist within the Cleveland Clinic Nursing Institute’s Office of Nursing Education and Professional Development, focusing on nursing practice in the Cleveland Clinic Medicine Institute. A registered nurse since 1981, Kaser has worked in various positions, including staff nurse, case manager, consultant, educator, clinical instructor and more. She earned her clinical nurse specialist certification in 2006, and spent approximately three years as a senior director in nursing education at Cleveland Clinic where she helped lead organizational strategy in maintaining a competent nursing workforce and integrated nursing policy, procedure and practice throughout the health system.

Kaser has spent much of her career serving as an educator to nursing staff members and nursing students as she has both a passion and skill for helping others learn. She is an experienced manager and leader. Kaser has published several articles in nursing and medical journals, holds three national nursing certifications, participates on numerous Cleveland Clinic councils and committees, and has served as an adjunct faculty member at Notre Dame College and Cuyahoga Community College.

Leadership

Kaser is responsible for clinical nursing strategy and general oversight of nursing practice within the Cleveland Clinic Medicine Institute, with an additional focus on a number of system-wide Cleveland Clinic Nursing Institute initiatives. She facilitates the mobility and safe patient handling care path and is co-facilitator of the Nursing Institute’s Legislative and Health Policy Council. She also serves as a faculty member for Cleveland Clinic’s New Graduate Nurse Residency program. A driven leader, she has been instrumental in numerous Cleveland Clinic nursing initiatives, specifically, the development of the nursing orientation and nurse residency programs.

Clinical Practice

Kaser is a clinical nurse specialist (CNS) with clinical experience in obstetrics, surgical telemetry, metabolic surgery, endocrinology and medical-surgical intensive care/nursing.

Teaching

Kaser has spent much of her career in nursing education. Since 2000, she has developed, lead and executed a variety of nursing education programs and initiatives within Cleveland Clinic’s Office of Nursing Education and Professional Development, promoting evidenced-based nursing practices and research. Previously, she served as an adjunct faculty member at the following institutions:

Research & Publications

Kaser has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in nursing and medical journals on a variety of topics, including diabetes management education, caring for the bariatric patient and weight-loss surgery. Additionally, she actively presents both regionally and nationally.
