The Endocrine Calcium Clinic helps streamline the evaluation and treatment of problems associated with calcium disorders and mineral abnormalities.
Based in the Department of Endocrinology, the Calcium Clinic provides access to a multidisciplinary team of experts who specialize in treating a vast number of common and rare calcium disorders, offering DXA bone density scanning, an on-site laboratory to test for calcium and bone diseases, and an infusion center for administering medications.
The Endocrine Calcium Clinic addresses problems associated with the regulation of the body's bone, mineral and hormone functions. Important minerals like calcium, phosphorus and magnesium are critical for the body’s normal functioning, and are often taken for granted as a part of everyday activities. Too much or too little of these minerals can be detrimental to the body’s ability to function properly, and can lead to other serious problems or complications.
Common problems associated with calcium disorders include vitamin D deficiency, intestinal disorders, kidney stones, osteoporosis and parathyroid disorders such as hyperparathyroidism. Additionally, metabolic abnormalities associated with obesity, bariatric surgery and organ transplantation are diagnosed and treated. Cleveland Clinic’s endocrinology services are ranked No. 3 in the nation by U.S.News & World Report. The Calcium Clinic consists of a team of experts that specialize in the treatment of a number of common and rare calcium disorders, as well as a unique focus on bone and mineral regulation problems associated with the surgical treatment of obesity. Ancillary facilities allow our experts to perform specialized testing not found in most medical centers, and patients are provided access to therapies using the latest forms of oral and injectable medications for many bone diseases.
