The Psycho-Oncology Program at Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center is a multidisciplinary team that works with patients to reduce emotional distress and improve quality of life while going though cancer treatment.
It is well known that people with cancer have much higher rates of depression and anxiety. Patients who suffer from anxiety and depression often have a worse quality of life, have more pain and have a harder time keeping to the schedule for the treatment of their cancer. With appropriate treatment, these patients can have an improved quality of life and are able to manage their treatment. In fact, some studies suggest that there are better outcomes in cancer care if depression and anxiety are treated.
The Psycho-Oncology Program at Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center offers counseling, psychiatric evaluation and treatment for patients being treated at our center. Please ask your Doctor for a referral, or call the Cancer Answer Line at 866.223.8100 to arrange for an assessment.
