Interventional Pulmonary Medicine Fellowship

Overview

Cleveland Clinic is offering a non-accredited, one-year fellowship in Interventional Pulmonary Medicine. As one of the leading international pulmonary and critical care programs, Cleveland Clinic's Respiratory Institute performs more than 3,000 diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopic procedures each year.

Program Overview

Trainees in our fellowship program will gain experience in the diagnosis and management of patients with complex airway disorders, pleural disorders, lung nodules and mediastinal adenopathy with the use of minimally invasive techniques. You may perform any of the following advanced invasive diagnostic and therapeutic pulmonary procedures:

• Endobronchial laser therapy
• Endobronchial electrocautery
• Argon plasma coagulation
• Cryotherapy
• Airway stent insertion
• Dilatation techniques
• Endobronchial ultrasound
• Transbronchial needle aspiration
• Electromagnetic bronchoscopy
• Autofluorescence and narrow band imaging bronchoscopy

Fellows will work closely with our Interventional Pulmonary Medicine staff and faculty from the Taussig Cancer Center (Oncology and Radiation Oncology), Radiology (Thoracic Radiology and Interventional Radiology), Thoracic Surgery and Otolaryngology (ENT).

In addition to your rotation at Cleveland Clinic, Interventional Pulmonary Medicine Fellows will gain additional experience in pleural disease at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

World-class Facilities

Due to our growth in patient volumes, we opened the most technologically-advanced bronchoscopy suite in the world, Patricia L. and Thomas P. Brundige Bronchoscopy Suite, in 2010. The suite includes three rooms fully equipped for all types of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, integration with radiology PACS, rapid on-site cytopathology work station, and ultrasound-guided thoracentesis service.
