Compassion and Valuing Every Person

Compassion and Valuing Every Person

Beloved retired staff member Anthony Thomas, Jr., MD, died November 2017. Dr. Thomas was a world-renowned infertility expert and an influential and respected member of our Bioethics team.

In memory of Dr. Thomas’s way of valuing every person with whom he came into contact, the Center for Bioethics has established this new lecture series. Through his everyday actions, Dr. Thomas demonstrated a deep commitment to encouraging others to reflect on their roles in healthcare and to support each person he met. He was a consummate clinician, mentor, professional and kind human being.

Building Skills and Destigmatizing Mental Health: A Working Summit

Building Skills and Destigmatizing Mental Health: A Working Summit

In Winter 2023, The Khnemu Foundation and Center for Bioethics hosted Building Skills and Destigmatizing Mental Health: A Working Summit. This all day event brought together healthcare institutions, healthcare providers, community leaders, and grassroots organizations to create solutions to address Mental Health issues, build networks and learn new skills. At the end, participants gained the tools and solutions needed to address challenges they were facing with Mental Health care in their spaces.

Attendees learned from their peers and heard powerful, action-oriented words from the keynote speakers: Judge William L. Dawson (East Cleveland Judge), Ms. Tammie Jones (Birthing Beautiful Communities), and Dr. Carl Allamby (ER Cleveland Clinic Physician).
