At Cleveland Clinic's Transplant Center, world-class experts perform a variety of adult and pediatric transplantation procedures. Each year, thousands of lives are saved and transformed because of our innovative transplant expertise. Combining quality, excellence and the top transplant physicians and specialists nationally at our Ohio and Florida locations, and Internationally in Abu Dhabi. The Center is led by Director of Enterprise Transplantation, Charles Miller, MD.

In 2021, Cleveland Clinic's Transplant Center staff completed 1,039 transplants (including living donor transplantation for kidney and liver) across our enterprise locations. Cleveland Clinic's liver and intestinal transplant programs are also now the largest programs in the U.S. for their respective organs.

Cleveland Clinic's Transplant Center participates in numerous scholarly training and teaching opportunities each year resulting in staff publications, lectures and abstracts. These opportunities include the work of medical students, Lifebanc employees, transplant coordinators, medical technologist students, other Cleveland Clinic residents and fellows and more.

The Transplant Center works closely with Lifebanc, Northeast Ohio's federally designated, nonprofit organ procurement organization (OPO). Increasing organ and tissue donation for those awaiting transplant is one of Lifebanc's main goals. Working with more than 80 hospitals, Lifebanc is responsible for all aspects of the organ and tissue recovery and donation processes, public and professional education programs, and bereavement services for donor families. Lifebanc is a member of the United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS) and an accredited member of the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) and the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB).

National Marrow Donor Program - The NMDP is a nonprofit organization that manages the world's largest registry of volunteer stem cell donors and cord blood units, facilitating lifesaving blood and marrow stem cell transplants.

Cleveland Minority Organ & Tissue Transplant Education Program - this nonprofit organization works to increase awareness about organ and tissue donation through education and advocacy within minority communities in the Cleveland area.

Cleveland Eye Bank - the nonprofit Cleveland Eye Bank retrieves, evaluates and distributes donated eyes for use in corneal transplantation as well as research and teaching

Transplant House of Cleveland - this non-profit organization provides temporary, affordable housing in a home-like environment for organ transplant patients and their families while they visit Cleveland for medical care.
