Biographical Sketch
Douglas Naylor, Jr., MD, FACS, is a staff physician in the Department of General Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, located on the main campus of Cleveland Clinic. He was appointed in 2005. Prior to this, he was an attending surgeon at Genesys Regional Medical Center, Michigan. He completed a fellowship in Critical Care, and served as chief surgical resident in the Department of Surgery at Michigan State University. He is board-certified in surgical critical care by The American Board of Surgery. His special interests include critical care guidelines, trauma, infection and burns.
Dr. Naylor received his medical degree from The Medical College of Ohio, Toledo, Ohio. He is licensed to practice medicine in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Ohio.
He has held faculty appointments at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, among others. He twice has received a “Presidential Citation” from The Society of Critical Care Medicine, Illinois, and was awarded the “Outstanding Surgical Educator Endorsement by Resident Physicians” from Michigan State University. Dr. Naylor has written and presented extensively on topics in his field. He is a Fellow with the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Critical Care.

Industry Relationships
Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with
the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop
medical breakthroughs or provide medical education about recent
trends. The collaborations are reviewed as part of the Cleveland
Clinic’s procedures. The Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses
payments to its physicians and scientists for speaking and
consulting of $5,000 or more per year, and any equity,
royalties, and fiduciary relationships in companies with which
they collaborate. The Cleveland Clinic requires its doctors
to approve the public disclosures of their scientific
collaborations with industry. As of 10/24/2008 the review
process regarding Dr. Naylor, Jr.’s disclosure had not been
completed. Patients should feel free to contact their doctor
