Biographical Sketch

Bo Shen, MD, is a Staff Member of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. His specialty interests include inflammatory bowel disease, GI endoscopy and imaging technology, and pouchitis and pouch diseases.

Dr. Shen earned his medical degree from Nantong Medical College in Jiangsu, China. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Nantong Medical College Hospital in China, a residency in internal medicine at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Urbana, Ill. He also completed a fellowship in the Department of Gastroenterology at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

He holds a general certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine, as well as a specialized certification in gastroenterology.

He has secured grants for multiple research projects including an investigation of blood-brain barrier in acute hepatic failure, clinical approach to ileal pouch dysfunction, inflammatory bowel disease, and chronic lymphoid leukemia subtypes, among others. He has also published a number of articles in peer-reviewed journals on gastrointestinal bleeding, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, malignant lymphoproliferative disorders, and irritable bowel syndrome, among many others.

Dr. Shen is a member of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endocscopy and the American College of Gastroenterology.
