Biographical Sketch

Jean Simmons, PhD, is a Psychologist and has worked at Cleveland Clinic since 1997. She works with adults in individual, group and couples therapy. Her research background is in the area of eating disorders, focusing specifically on the etiological role of eating and weight-related beliefs and expectations. Clinical interests are varied and include coping with chronic illness, the treatment of eating disorders and insomnia, smoking cessation and stress management.

Dr. Simmons emphasizes mind/body approaches, focusing on helping patients to take charge of their emotional and physical health through relaxation, meditation, mindfulness, cognitive restructuring and improved behavioral health. She provides Mind/Body Wellness Groups for patients, clinic employees and providers.

Dr. Simmons has a growing interest in spirituality and health. She is comfortable working with people of different faiths and encourages her patients to draw upon their faith and spiritual practices to optimize health and healing.
