Biographical Sketch

Phillip J. Catanzaro, MD, PhD, is a Staff Physician at the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center for Regional Oncology. He is board-certified in pathology (anatomic and clinical) and radiation oncology. Prior to his current appointment, Dr. Catanzaro was a partner in the Community Oncology Group and Independence Oncology.

Dr. Catanzaro received his medical degree from Cornell University. He then attended Case Western Reserve University in 1972, where he earned his PhD while specializing in pathology and immunology. His academic experience includes his tenure as Assistant Professor of Pathology at Case Western Reserve University from 1975 to 1978 and Associate Professor of Pathology at Case Western Reserve University from 1978 to 1981.

He has served in several pathology and immunology settings, including the University of Kansas Medical Center, Walter Reed Army Institute of Research and University Hospitals of Cleveland. At these facilities, he held various clinical positions including Staff Pathologist, Immunopathologist and Director of Clinical Pathology Training. 

Dr. Catanzaro is a member of the American College of Radiology and the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology. In addition to his role at Cleveland Clinic, he also has clinical privileges at Marymount Hospital, South Pointe Hospital, Parma General Community Hospital and Fairview Hospital. Dr. Catanzaro was recognized as a Fellow of the College of American Pathology from 1979 to 1981.
