Biographical Sketch

Richard Freeman, Ph.D., MD, is a Staff Member in the Department of Otolaryngology at the Westlake Family Health Center and is on staff at the Head and Neck Institute. Dr. Freeman is also Division Chief of Otolaryngology at Lakewood Hospital. His specialty interests include general otolaryngology, head and neck surgery and sinonasal disease.

Prior to joining the Cleveland Clinic in 1997, he was an E.N.T. in private practice with Head & Neck Surgery Associates in Lakewood, Ohio. Dr. Freeman earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery and otolaryngology at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., where he was also Chief Resident and Fellow.
 
He is a diplomate with the American Board of Otolaryngology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Freeman is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the Northeast Ohio Otolaryngological and Head and Neck Surgery Society. He has several publications on topics such as voice preservation in the treatment of carcinoma of the sinus, carcinoma of the larynx and cancers of the supraglottis and pyriform sinus, among others.
