Biographical Sketch

Soo Hyun (Esther) Kim, MD, MPH, RPVI, is Carotid Intimal Medial Thickness (CIMT) Core Lab Director of C5 Research and a staff physician in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Sections of Vascular Medicine and Preventive Cardiology in the Women's Cardiovascular Center, specializing in the areas of general cardiology, preventive cardiology, women's heart health, and vascular medicine.

Dr. Kim's specialty interests include cardiovascular prevention, atherosclerosis, fibromuscular dysplasia, peripheral arterial disease, general cardiology, vascular ultrasound and use of CIMT to assess pre-clinical atherosclerosis.

Dr. Kim has published many papers and co-authored and edited chapters for several books related to the diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular disease. She is an award-winning researcher, including the 2007 American College of Cardiology Young Investigator Award.

A graduate of Duke University School of Medicine, Dr. Kim also holds a Masters in Public Health from the University of North Carolina and completed an Internal Medicine residency at Johns Hopkins before coming to Cleveland Clinic where she completed fellowships in Cardiology and Vascular Medicine before joining the staff in 2008.

Dr. Kim is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. She is also certified in Diagnostic Medical Sonography as a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).
