Biographical Sketch

Dr. Leslie Gilbert is a staff physician in the Department of Vascular Medicine in the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute. She also is a staff physician with the Wound Healing Center at South Pointe Hospital, a Cleveland Clinic hospital.

In addition to wound healing, Dr. Gilbert's specialty interests include hypercoaguable states, arterial disease, venous disease and lymphedema. She is board-certified in Vascular Medicine, Internal Medicine and wound healing. She is a certified wound specialist with the American College of Certified Wound Specialists, registered physician in Vascular Interpretation, a registered Vascular Technologist and is certified in hyperbaric medicine.

A native Clevelander, Dr. Gilbert earned her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, followed by a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in Vascular Medicine at Cleveland Clinic. She is on the faculty at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. Gilbert was appointed to the Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute staff in 2008.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic she was Director of the Division of Vascular Medicine, Medical Director of the Noninvasive Vascular Laboratory and Director of the Cleveland Center for Wound Healing at St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland.

As a private practice physician specializing in vascular medicine and wound healing, Dr. Gilbert also has been affiliated with University Hospitals and the Mt. Sinai Medical Center of Cleveland (now closed) and served as Co-director of the Noninvasive Vascular Lab at St. Luke's Hospital.

Dr. Gilbert is a Fellow of the Society for Vascular Medicine and the American College of Certified Wound Specialists. She is a member of the American Registry of  Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, the Society of Vascular Ultrasound, the Cleveland Vascular Society and the North American Thrombosis Forum.
