Biography

About Peter Imrey, PhD

Peter B. Imrey, PhD, is on Staff in the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences at Cleveland Clinic's main campus and a professor of medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. He was appointed in 2001. He also is an Affiliate Professor of Statistics for the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign since 2002.

His research interests include the analysis of multivariate categorical data; linear models; sample survey methods; quantitative epidemiology, and numerous areas of medical and public health application.

Dr. Imrey received his PhD in biostatistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and joined the teaching staff there upon graduation. He then spent more than 25 years in tenured professor positions at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and at Chicago.

He is the author of numerous papers and chapters and has co-authored the book, Analysis of Categorical Data. He serves on several boards and committees, including the Committee on Professional Ethics for the American Statistical Association and the Task Force on Design and Analysis in Dental and Oral Research. He is a member in numerous professional societies, including the American College of Epidemiology, American Statistical Association, Delta Omega and others.

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
