Biographical Sketch

Dr. Schaefer joined the staff in 2010 as Director of Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, with a joint appointment in the Neurological and the Orthopedic and Rheumatological Institutes. He practices at the Main Campus and the western regional locations. He has fellowship training in Sports Medicine (Mayo Clinic) and board certification in PM&R, Sports Medicine, and Pain Medicine. He specializes in treating musculoskeletal injuries and performs both ultrasound-guided and fluoroscopically (x-ray) guided injections. He enjoys teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and frequently gives lectures and seminars to national audiences.
