Biographical Sketch

Deepa Patil, M.B.B.S., M.D. is certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. She received her fellowship training in Gastrointestinal, Pancreatic, and Hepatobiliary Pathology at the Cleveland Clinic. She is part of the GI and Hepatobiliary Pathology Service, including extramural consultation practice. She serves as the Medical Director of Frozen Section Service and is the Co-Director of GI, Pancreatic, and Hepatobiliary Pathology Fellowship Program.

Dr. Patil's research interests include the histologic and molecular aspects of Barrett's esophagus and Barrett's-related neoplasia, inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, GI mesenchymal tumors, vascular pathology of the gastrointestinal tract, and HPV-associated anal squamous dysplasia. She enjoys teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and was awarded the John Beach Hazard Distinguished Teacher Award in 2014. She continues to engage in national and international seminars as a Faculty Speaker.
