Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 11/15/2016, Dr. Berglund has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Dr. Berglund is by far one of the friedliest, most empathetic gentle and courteous physicians I have ever encountered. He's always there to answer any questions that I may have about my condition, and he's very thourough. For example, before this appointment, the Dr. Berglund instructed me to have a CT Urogram done, which I took care of about a week or so before my appointment, and when I came in for my annual Cystoscopy, I had it on my mind to mention to Dr. Berglund that I complied and had the scan done previously so he knew, and to my surprise, as he walked into the examinating room and said hello to me, he started telling me about the results of the Urogram without me having to mention it or ask him about it.

Dr. Berglund should be considered a National Treasure. He is tops in his medical specialty. Beyond his medical proficiency, I have found him to be very sensitive and caring, for me a total stranger. I feel most fortunate to have him taking care of me.

I started seeing Dr Berglund 5 years ago when I was first diagnosed with bladder cancer. I traveled to the Cleveland Clinic from Alabama because of Dr. Berglund's reputation as a leader in his field. this was probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have no doubt that Dr. Berglund saved my life. He is that rare combination of skilled Physician, Surgeon and caring human being.

Dr. Berglund is a dedicated person (along w his staff). Everyone is very caring & a pleasure 2 deal with. Sometimes the office room waiting time is long - however I realize this is a busy place & I can deal w the wait.

Dr Berglund explained the office procedure and he explained the "steps" of the procedure. I did not feel embarrassed at all. He mentioned to call if any questions or problems. Dr. Berglund is a kind, gentle doctor. He has VERY good manners. I would recommend him to others.

Dr. Berglund very quickly comes across as an expert on bladder cancer. He is very confident in his abilities and I was very comfortable with him. I would have liked some suggestions on diet and exercise, but he takes a different approach to treating bladder cancer.
