The Radiation Oncology Postgraduate Educational Program at Cleveland Clinic is among the most highly regarded in the United States. A critical factor in its success is its full integration within the Cleveland Clinic’s Taussig Cancer Institute, which is recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top cancer hospitals in the country in its annual hospital survey. The Taussig offers extensive clinical experience to its Residents and Fellows, all within the setting of an urban tertiary care center.

The Department of Radiation Oncology is recognized nationally for the excellence of its Educational Programs. It is a busy, high-volume department, with a wide range of clinical and technical expertise.

Treatment units include:
  • Fluoroscopic and CT simulators
  • 6 linear accelerators treating 130 -150 patients per day, including Elekta, Varian, BrainLab and Siemens technologies.
  • Experiences in 3-dimensional conformal radiotherapy
  • Stereotactic body radiotherapy on a Novalis BrainLAB unit
  • Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT)
  • Cone-beam CT
  • 4DRT
  • Gamma Knife radiosurgery
  • prostate brachytherapy (seed implants)
  • HDR brachytherapy for gynecologic malignancies
  • Hyperthermia
  • Total body irradiation
  • Radioimmunotherapy (oral and parenteral) and intraoperative radiation are an integral part of the Cleveland Clinic program.
