For people with damaged skin, a new microdermabrasion technique called the MicroDelivery Peel II offers rejuvenation. Patients emerge with smoother, softer, brighter skin.
What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical, non-chemical procedure in which our skin care specialist removes the superficial layer of skin, improving irregularities in the skin’s surface. Most people report no discomfort during the procedure. In addition, because the treatment removes the superficial, sun-damaged layer of skin, skin care products are able to penetrate better.
Who is a candidate for microdermabrasion?
People with environmentally damaged skin that includes fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, sun damage and uneven pigmentation are candidates for microdermabrasion. All types and colors of skin can be treated. Microdermabrasion is most effective for superficial skin problems. Patients with deeper wrinkles or acne scars are better treated with deeper peeling techniques.
How much time does a treatment take?
Treatments using the MicroDelivery Peel II system generally take about 20 to 30 minutes. Depending upon skin type, condition and expectations, 6-12 treatments over several weeks may be required.
What can I expect before the procedure?
Before the procedure, the skin care specialist describes the procedure and what results might realistically be expected. Photographs are taken before and after the treatment to help evaluate the amount of improvement. Post-treatment instructions are given to the patient at this time.
How does the procedure work?
The procedure, which is performed in an office setting, is performed by our skin care specialist. Using a precision instrument, they direct a controlled stream of fine crystals that gently removes tiny particles of dead, sun-damaged skin.
Are there any “side effects” to the procedure?
Depending upon the sensitivity of your skin, you may experience some slight blushing that disappears within an hour or so. Because the treatments are so gentle, you can return immediately to your daily activities. There is no “recovery” time, and there are no side effects. In fact, you can have a treatment during your lunch hour, reapply your makeup and go right back to work!
