Description
To understand the genetic and molecular alterations involved in the pathogenesis, diagnosis, prognosis and response to therapy in breast cancer and to develop patient derived xenografts for the purpose of experimental therapeutics.
Inclusion Criteria
All patients with a known or suspected diagnosis of breast cancer will be considered as a potential source for these specimens. In addition, patients without cancer but at high risk for developing breast cancer (i.e. family history, unopposed estrogen use, et cetera) who are seen in the High-risk Breast Cancer Clinic will be asked to provide blood samples. Patients with a diagnosis of breast cancer entering clinical care at CCF will be considered for consent on this protocol to allow for collection of one or more of the above samples as appropriate. Sources of the tissue samples may be derived from the primary tumor organ sites or from metastatic sites, e.g. lymph nodes, brain, liver, or brain.
