The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Institute (PLM) touches virtually every patient at Cleveland Clinic and thousands of patients across the world. From simple blood tests to sophisticated DNA analysis and expert biopsy interpretation, PLM serves a vital role in diagnosing, treating, and monitoring disease. With approximately 2,200 dedicated caregivers processing more than 20 million tests annually, the PLM laboratories are often cited as the largest volume hospital laboratory in the United States. PLM also provides pathology and laboratory services to external clients through our reference laboratory, Cleveland Clinic Laboratories.
